National Renewable Energy Exhibition and Symposium

The National Renewable Energy Exhibition and Symposium took place 15 - 17 February, 2023, in the compowned  and facilities of the Ethiopian Rural Energy Development and Promotion Center. This event  was  organized by the Ministry of Water and Energy in collaboration with Ethiopian German Energy Cooperation (EGEC), Energizing Development (EnDev), and SNV witht the objective of enhancing awareness of the public and private and civic stakehoders on the state of the art in RE and the situation in Ethiopia, Bring sector players together to exchange and network.

issues such as rurlal  / off grid electrification, clean cooking, energy efficiency & managment , renewable energy solutions (solar, wind, geothermal, hydropower and biogas / biomass ..), energy communication (energy & mass / social media)   were discussed in plenary as well as in breack away groups and relevant observations and recommendations drawn. All in all about 200 professionals, officials and practitioners attended the symposum and over 25 RE enterprises and projects exhibited their products and services. 

Speaking on the occasion, Energy Development State Minister at MoWE, H.E. Dr. Ing. Sultan Wali stated that energy is the most important driver of sustainable develpment. He also underscored that there is untapped renewable energy potential in the country that can be exploited to enhance the develolment efforts undergoing in the country. He further pointed out that the newly drafted energy policy which encourages private partnership will play a vital role in engaging private companies to invest in the energy sector.
