Briefing a Parliamentary Standing Committee on Energy Efficiency , Energy Regulation and Energy Transition
Petroleum and Energy Authority (PEA) of Ethiopia with the support from GIZ, Ethiopia Germany energy cooperation, conducted a briefing workshop for the Parliamentary Standing committee that oversees the works of the Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration (MoTRI) under which PEA is structured, on energy regulation and national Energy efficiency strategy and programs from May 6th - 7th, 2023 in Adama, Ethiopia.
The workshop provided briefings on the mandates of PEA, the Ethiopian power sector model, existing legal and regulatory frameworks, national energy efficiency strategies and programs, regional energy market integration and its impact on the community, private sector investment-based strategies and regulatory legal framework adaptation options, and indicated areas of improvement to foster and empower the regulator PEA.
The briefing underlined that, a capable and empowered energy regulator and enabling regulatory framework is foundational for sustainable energy transition.
