The National Sustainable Energy Development Strategy (N-SEDS) 2024-2030 is a collaborative effort led by the Ministry of Water and Energy (MoWE) to address Ethiopia's energy challenges and steer the country towards a sustainable energy future. Developed with input from key stakeholders and experts, this strategy outlines a comprehensive roadmap to enhance energy access, security, efficiency, and governance while promoting economic growth and environmental sustainability.

The N-SEDS outlines five overarching strategic objectives to guide its implementation:

  1. Expanding Equitable Access to Modern Energy Services
  2. Enhancing Energy Security and Resilience
  3. Improving Energy Efficiency and Conservation
  4. Governance and Capacity Strengthening
  5. Cross-cutting Issues: Gender equality, Resource mobilization, and Knowledge management

The N-SEDS 2024-2030 represents a critical step towards achieving Ethiopia's sustainable energy goals. By addressing key challenges, leveraging strengths, and capitalizing on opportunities, the strategy aims to foster inclusive growth, enhance energy security, and promote environmental stewardship. Implementation will require sustained political commitment, stakeholder collaboration, and resource mobilization to realize Ethiopia's vision of a prosperous and sustainable energy future.
