EWiEn Thematic workshop: Productive Use of Energy (PUE) and Gender

Through the support of Ethiopian German Energy cooperation, Ethiopian Women in Energy (EWiEn) held a thematic workshop on the topic of PUE which took place on September 23, 2023. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about energy access and development in rural communities, with a focus on the benefits of renewable energy sources, the influence of gender norms on decision-making, the role of government policies, and challenges in finance and entrepreneurship. The workshop highlighted that real positive social transformation can only materials with protracted empowerment of women through their engagement on productive use of energy to generate own income and socio-cultural change that enables them to decide what to do with it
