German - African Energy Forum
The 15th German - African Energy Forum was held on June 1st and 2nd in Hamburg (Germany) under the motto "Turning Tables and Breaking Habits: Energy Transition through Africa's lens". Renewable energy scale-up, transition from fossil fuels, infrastructure and global trade, finance and policy framework were main topics of the conference.
The Ethiopian delegation was led by HE Dr Sultan Wali, State Minister in the Minstry of Water and Energy, joining delegates from 34 African and 15 non-African countries as well as industry representatives.
The State Minister held discussions with the leadership of Afrikaverein and industry delegates, presented Ethiopia in a dedicated session and contributed as a panelist on the topic “Scaling up Investments and Partnerships for Renewable Energy in Africa”.
The delegation also visited various companies to discuss innovation in the energy transition field. The visit was supported by GIZ (BMWK commission “Energy Partnerships”) and KAS (Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung).
